Rent is a fixed amount due on a fixed day each month, which makes it ideal for automatic reminders: one a few days before the due day, one on the day and a polite follow-up if the payment has not arrived. In RemindCash each tenancy becomes a monthly recurring receivable, reminded on your schedule. Reminders go out in your name, partial payments reduce the balance and the follow-ups stop when you record the rent as paid.
How payments usually work
- One fixed monthly amount per tenant, by bank transfer.
- Occasional extra charges, such as service fees or repairs agreed with the tenant.
- Partial payments when a tenant is short one month.
- A small number of landlords or managers handling many units.
A reminder schedule that fits
| Step | When | Tone |
|---|---|---|
| Heads-up | 3 days before | Friendly, amount and due day |
| Due today | On the due day | Neutral |
| Follow-up | 3 days after | Friendly, ask if anything is wrong |
| Second follow-up | 10 days after | Direct and factual |
Setting it up in RemindCash
- Add each tenant as a customer with their email, preferred language and time zone, or import a list from CSV or Excel.
- Create a monthly recurring receivable for each tenancy with the rent amount and due day.
- Approve a short, friendly template with the tenant's name, amount, due date and your bank or payment link.
- Record payments, including partial ones; the receivable stays open for the remaining balance.
- Pause reminders when you have agreed a payment date with the tenant.
Example reminder
Good practice
- Agree in the tenancy agreement that rent reminders may be sent by email or text.
- Send reminders only to the tenant who owes the rent, never to neighbours, employers or family.
- Keep the tone factual; formal steps such as notices follow the law in your country and are outside reminder emails.
- If you plan to send SMS reminders, read the rules for payment reminder texts.
What RemindCash does not do
It is not property-management software: it does not handle leases, deposits, maintenance or rent collection. SMS and WhatsApp are not open yet.

What happens when a tenant pays part of the rent?
